A collective approach to ensuring benefit for the First Nations community of the CWO REZ
Indigenous Energy Australia are currently working with eleven First Nations communities throughout the Central-West Orana (CWO) Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) to identify the pathways through which the REZ can unlock community outcomes.
IEA are working with individual communities to understand their key outcomes and to highlight the energy pathways that can enable these outcomes. IEA are working to bring communities together to take unified and regional approach, and are attempting to facilitate relationships between community, government and industry.
We are leading this work with community with no direct government or industry support – although support is currently being discussed.
IEA are leading this initiative with other consultants and philanthropic interests, due to a lack of outcome in the CWO and other NSW renewable energy zones to date; and given IEA’s previous involvement and advice with regards to NSW communities being engaged around and benefiting from REZs.
Indigenous Energy Australia will continue to lead and drive the work, with the intention that both government and industry buy-in, and participation, will increase.
